How To Play Minecraft On LAN [TLauncher]

The game allows you to create a server in your own world. This will allow all players to connect to your server. The game is very simple, but there are limitations. This article will detail all of them. Select the configuration you wish to use from the content and follow the instructions.

Server configuration when you are connected to the same Wi Fi network or LAN network as another player

This setting is best if you have multiple computers that are close together and are connected to the same Wi-Fi network or LAN network (connected via cable).

Windows: Open the Start menu on the PC where you want to start the server. Type cmd in the search box to open this program.

In the opened window, type ipconfig and press enter. Look for your local IP. It starts with 192.168.*. * , for example, 192.168.1.47 (yours will be the other! Copy it.

MacOS: To find the local IP, open the Terminal (you can type “Terminal” in the Mac search and find it), type ifconfig * and copy it.

Go to your World and click Open to LAN in the Pause menu. Chat will display a message regarding the successful opening and the server port, 31790 for the example (you’ll have another).

Now on another PC that needs to be connected to your server, you should also open the version with the TL icon (also, the version of the game must be the same as on the first PC), go to Multiplayer, open Direct connect.

Enter the IP address and port we have earlier, 192.168.1.47.31790 in this example. If everything is OK, the connection will be established! Now you can play on the server together with a friend.

Server Configuration When Playing over the Internet with Another Player Using Hamachi

If you are unable to physically join another player on the network due to distances between them, you can create a network over the Internet using Hamachi.

On both PCs, do the following: Create a Hamachi account and download the program (after clicking on the link, the Download button is in the center).

Install the program. Now, go to Hamachi and click on “Create new network”. Enter any network name or password. The new network will appear in the window.

Open TLauncher and choose the version with a TL icon. Then, run the game. It is better to log in to your TLauncher.org account. You will not be able connect to the server if you choose the version without the TL icon.

Go to your World and click Open to LAN in the Pause menu. The chat will display information about the server’s successful opening, as well as the port number, 60000 in this example (you will also have another).

On another PC click on “Connect to an existing network”, enter the network name and password created earlier. If the connection is successful, the Hamachi window will show your friend’s computer.

You should also open the version on another computer with the TL icon (also, the version on the first PC must be the same), go to Multiplayer, and then open Direct connect.

Now, enter the address from Hamachi in the IP field (of the PC, on which the server is opened) + port that we got earlier, 25.60.187.78:60000 in the example. If everything is okay, the connection should be established. You can now play on this server with a friend.

Setting up a Local Minecraft Server with Mods

Once you have setup the server to play on a WiFi (LAN), or Hamachi network, you can install mods to play with your friends. The instructions are very simple.

Install the exact same mods on all clients. Everything should be identical. The Forge version should also be the same. For example, ForgeOptiFine (1.12.2). Remember to include the TL icon in the version!

Now create and connect the server using the same steps as above depending on your network. Now you can play Minecraft mods!

Possible Problems and Solutions

– An error message indicating “Invalid Session”, or “Check Username” when connecting to the server appears.

Solution: The version must be run with the TL icon. If you run exactly this version, make sure the “Account Management”, “Use Tancher Skins” checkbox (in launcher) is activated.

– When connecting to the server “Io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection time out: no further information” error appears.

Solution: The game cannot find information about such server. This means that the network configuration is incorrect. It is possible to disable firewalls and anti-virus software on the host computer.

– After connecting to the server, chunk loading begins, but the connection is dropped immediately thereafter (there is a disconnect).

Solution: The network configuration is correct but the firewall and antivirus are dropping the connection. They can be disabled or properly configured.
